Food shortage before the reappearance of Imam Al-Mahdi (a.t.f.s)

This is the translation of this video:

The main question we should ask ourselves, is there any narrations speaks about food shortage before the reappearance of our beloved imam (a.t.f.s) ?

Short answer is yes, the narrations mentioned a major food shortage ahead before the reappearance of our beloved imam Al-Mahdi (a.t.f.s)

One of the main narrations from imam Al-Sadiq (as)

962. Al-Ghaibah of al-No’mani (r.a.)1 : Narrated unto us Muhammad Ibn Hammaam from Abdullah Ibn Ja’far al-Himyari, from al-Hasan Ibn Mahboob, from Ali Ibn Reaab from Muhammad Ibn Muslim from (Imam) Abu Abdillah Ja’far Ibn Muhammad al-Sadeq (a.s.) who said, “for the uprising of the Qaaem there are some signs for its prelude;
examination from Allah – the High – for his believing servants.”I asked, “And what is it?” He (a.s.) replied, “It is the word of Allah – Mighty and Majestic be He – ‘And We will most certainly try you
with somewhat of fear and hunger and loss of property and lives and fruits; and give good news to the patient2’. He (a.s.) explained, ‘And We will most certainly try you’ refers to the believers; ‘with
somewhat of fear’from the kings of Bani so and so in the end of their reign; ‘and hunger’ due
to extreme inflation; ‘and loss of property’ implies disruption of businesses and paucity of grace in them; ‘and lives’ means quick death; ‘and fruits’ scarcity of yields from what is cultivated and
shortage of blessings in fruits; ‘and give good news to the patient’

during such times about the reappearance of the Qaaem (a.t.f.s.).’ Thereafter, he (a.s.) informed me, ‘O Muhammad! This is its interpretation. Surely, Allah – Mighty and Majestic be He – says, ‘And
none knows its interpretation except those who are firmly entrenched in knowledge’.
(The Holy Quran 3: 7)“

Here the imam didn't just speak about hunger and fear or just food shortage, but also the quick death, as Imam Ali(a.s.) spoke in Nahjul Balagha about the lawless and the strongest hunger.

There is another narration also :-

Abu Baseer said Imam Sadiq (as) said, “The year before the Qaem rises, the following will surely occur – people wil experience hunger, people will face extreme fear of being killed, and people will suffer loss of wealth, life and livelihood. Allah clearly explains this in His book, “We shall surely try you with something of fear, and hunger, and loss of wealth, and lives, and fruits; and give glad tidings to the patient ones” (Surah Baqarah, verse 155) (al-Ghaybah by Nomani, page 132)

Also another narration from Imam Baqir (a.s)

94- Ghaibat Nomani: It is narrated from Ali bin Ahmad from Ubaidullah bin Musa Alawi from Ali bin Ibrahim Hashim from his father from Muhammad bin Hafas from Amr bin Shimr from Jabir Jofi that he said:

“Once I asked Abu Ja’far Baqir (a.s.) about the meaning of this saying of Allah:

“And We will most certainly try you with somewhat of fear and hunger and loss of property and lives and fruits; and give good news to the patient.” (Surah Baqarah 2:155)

…and he said: “O Jabir, it has a general meaning and a special meaning. The special meaning is that hunger will afflict Kufa and especially the opponents of Muhammad’s progeny and will destroy them. As for the general meaning, there will be terror and hunger in Shaam that has never been faced before. Hunger will be before the rising of the Qaim (a.s.) but terror will be there after his rising.” This report is also mentioned inTafsir Ayyashi through another chain of narrators.

Those are some of the narrations that mentioned the fear and hunger and food shortage, even in the books of our Sunni brothers  they have lots of narrations speaks about the year of hunger.

The conclusion is that the narrations of Ahlulbayt (a.s) and the narrations of our Sunni brothers that there is a food shortage will be before the reappearance of the Imam (a.t.f.s)
